Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Cold Focus app ("the App", "we") collects, uses and protects your personal data. By using the App, you accept this policy. Cold Focus is provided by the developer Hasan Burak Erdin (Coldfocusapp).
1. Data We Collect
a) Data stored on your device (local)
- Focus session records: session length, outcome (completed / cancelled / violated), difficulty level, date and time.
- Progress state: identity level, streak, recovery credit.
- Your preferences: the list of apps you chose to lock, your tone selection, and your difficulty and duration preferences.
This data is kept primarily on your device and is required for the App to function.
b) Data synced to the cloud (only if sync is on)
If you enable cloud sync, the following data is stored on our secure servers (Supabase):
- An anonymous account identifier (see below).
- Focus session summaries (length, outcome, difficulty, violation count, local date/time).
- Profile information: premium status, time zone, identity level, streak, notification token.
None of this data includes your name, phone number or message content.
c) Account and authentication
- Anonymous sign-in: to use cloud features, an automatic, nameless account is created. It asks for no personal information.
- Sign in with Google / Apple (optional): to carry and restore your premium subscription across devices, you can link your account with your Google or Apple identity. In that case, your email address and a user identifier are received from that provider.
d) Automatically collected technical data
- IP address: kept temporarily in authentication logs for sign-in security and automatically deleted within 30 days.
2. Device Permissions and Their Purposes
Cold Focus requests certain Android permissions to provide its focus-lock feature. We use these permissions only for the following purposes:
- Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): to detect on the device which app is in the foreground during a session, so we can lock the distracting apps you selected. This information is never sent off the device.
- Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): to show the blocking screen when you try to open a locked app.
- Foreground Service & Notifications: to keep an active session/lock running and to show you reminders.
- Motion Sensors (accelerometer/gyroscope): to detect whether you have put the phone down. This data is processed on the device only; it is not stored or sent.
We do not read the content, messages or personal files of your other apps.
3. AI-Generated Content (Premium)
With a premium subscription, texts such as your personal focus analysis, focus plan and end-of-day summary are generated with AI. For this feature:
- Not your raw data, but computed summary statistics (e.g. total focus time, session frequency, trend) are sent to our AI provider Anthropic (Claude) to be processed.
- The data sent does not include your name or identity.
- Anthropic processes this data only to generate the response; it is not used to train models.
4. Payments
Subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store (and, in the future, Google Play), with our subscription infrastructure provided via RevenueCat. We do not see or store your credit card / payment details; these are handled by the relevant store. We only receive information about whether your subscription is active.
5. Third-Party Services
- Supabase — cloud database, authentication and synchronization.
- Anthropic — premium AI text generation.
- Google Play / RevenueCat — subscription and payment processing.
- Expo — push notification delivery infrastructure.
Each provider is subject to its own privacy policy.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your data for as long as it is necessary to provide the service. Sign-in logs containing IP addresses are deleted after 30 days. You may request deletion of your account and cloud data; contact us at the address below. Uninstalling the App deletes the local data on your device.
7. Your Rights (KVKK / GDPR)
Under applicable law, you have the right to access your data, request its correction or deletion, object to its processing, and receive a copy of your data. To exercise these rights, contact us.
8. Children's Privacy
Cold Focus is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from this age group.
9. Security
We transmit data over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and protect it with access controls. While no method is 100% secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will announce significant changes in the App or on this page. The current version is always published at this address.
